OUR HISTORY

Founded in 2002, we are a group of devoted, diverse, and multicultural volunteers. We are composed of representatives from Industry, Government, Education, Finance, Entrepreneurs, Retirees, Clergy, Civic, and Fraternal Groups.
The AAECF seeks to assist in stabilizing and giving people a sense of purpose and direction. Further, we promote, enhance, and educate persons from infancy to adulthood; increase cultural awareness, and thereby improve the total quality of life. We utilize a grass-root effort to uplift and encourage citizenship.
Through our volunteerism, mentorship, programs and outreach, our efforts cause a series of ‘ripple effects’ that have altered the negative perception of people within the community.
Since diversity is one of our nation’s strengths, we wish to build our youth into stronger citizens, who are aware, sensitive to differences and capable of constructive expression of dissimilar opinions. Our objective is to provide a wealth of educational and cultural experiences. We also look to continue to promote and sponsor an annual festival held in the Riverhead town vicinity, also known as the County Seat of Suffolk County, NY, (all are welcome).
Activities include: Speaker Bureau, Transformation, Prevention and Intervention Programs, Educational & Art Exhibits, Entrepreneur & Apprentice Training & Skills, Health & Wellness Initiatives, College Preparation and Partnership with School Districts, Colleges and Universities.
Our Focus:  Giving a Hand-up and not a Hand-out. To educate, embrace, celebrate and pay tribute to the African American education, culture and history.
